EXCLUSIVE: With production gearing up, Warner Bros., DC Entertainment and James Wan have found Jason Momoa his first new co-star for highly-anticipated sequel to the global hit Aquaman. Sources tell Deadline Pilou Asbaek, best known for his role as the villainous Euron Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, is in talks to join Aquaman 2 opposite Momoa who is set to return in the title role.

With a confirmed, and late-breaking, re-release date, Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring has been scheduled to hit China’s movie theaters tomorrow (April 16). The second film, The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, will follow next Friday, April 23. The Oscar-winning New Line trilogy will play in a remastered 4K 2D version at IMAX cinemas and in other premium formats.

In the Legendary title’s first week, the monster movie has grossed $60M, making it the top grossing pic stateside during the pandemic (since mid-March 2020), and giving Warner Bros. four out of the five top grossing titles over the last year which include the studio’s Tenet ($58.5M) in second place, Universal/Dreamworks Animation’s Croods: New Age ($56.5M) in third, Warner’s Wonder Woman 1984 with $46.2M, and the studio’s Tom & Jerry with $40.3M.
