Children have died from new rare 'disease' believed to be linked to coronavirus, says Health Secretary

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he is 'very worried' about a new, rare 'disease' believed to be linked to coronavirus he said has killed some children.

He told the LBC radio station the inflammatory disorder 'may be caused by coronavirus and the Covid-19 virus'. Some children have died with no underlying health conditions, he said.

Mr Hancock said experts were 'looking into it with great urgency', but stressed the condition was rare. He said: "We put out at the weekend a call across the NHS because some cases of this had been identified and then this call essentially says to doctors in other parts of the country ‘have you seen this condition?’ and then they collate the information and find out what’s going on."
