Chicago Fire is making some major casting moves lately. The long-running NBC One Chicago series airs its Season 13 fall finale, “Quicksand,” on Wednesday (November 20).

Here’s a logline: “Herrmann and Mouch prepare for their officer exams; Cruz receives a chilling omen; Carver takes care of a dog after its owner gets injured.” Based on the latest episode, we seemingly have a hint at who is replacing Jesse Spencer‘s Matt Casey’s role in Firehouse 51 after Episode 7. Keep reading to find out more… After Matt Casey was written out of the show in Season 12, the show needed to replace the partnership that existed between his character and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

Earlier on in Chicago Fire Season 13, we were introduced Chief Wallace Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) own replacement, Dom Pascal, who is played by Dermot Mulroney. The end of Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7 ends with Severide smoking cigars with Pascal in front of the firehouse, which Severide used to do with Casey. As ScreenRant notes, Severide and Casey used their time smoking to either unwind or discuss something important.

Seeing this moment between Severide and Pascal suggests the pair will develop a partnership moving forward, despite a bumpy start together.
