Chester Zoo announced that it will close for a day following the death of the Queen. The zoo told visitors it will be open on Friday (September 9) but has confirmed a closure in the coming days.

In a statement shared on social media, Chester Zoo recalled a ‘very special day’ in its history when The Queen officially opened its Jubilee Quarter in 2012.

The statement went on to inform visitors that the zoo will remain closed on the date of the State Funeral, reports the ECHO.

The Queen was the first British monarch to reign for 70 years, with large scale celebrations taking place earlier this year to mark her Platinum Jubilee.
