Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is expected to leave the club in the summer, according to Lothar Matthaus. The 34-year-old has been with the Bundesliga giants for almost a decade, making close to 400 appearances.

But he is demanding a new five-year contract to remain with the German champions, something that club are reluctant to give him.

Schalke keeper Alexander Nubel, 23, has agreed to join them for next season and they could see him as Neuer’s long-term replacement.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent times with the Blues looking to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga.
