Cheapest supermarkets - as loyalty cards offer minimal savings

However, new research from consumer champion Which? suggests that your loyalty card may not be saving you as much as you think.The organisation compared the prices of the 65 most commonly purchased items during a grocery shop.
All the final prices took into account the use of loyalty cards such as Tesco's Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar points.Overall, it found that Aldi was the cheapest supermarket with an average total cost of £118.41.
Lidl was a close second with an average cost of £121.31, reports the Manchester Evening News.On the other hand, Waitrose was the most expensive at £151.01, with Ocado coming in second at £144.06.
