Marc Malkin Senior Editor, Culture and Events LACMA’s Art + Film Gala is going to be brat this year. The museum has announced that Charli XCX will perform at this year’s event.

The evening will honor filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and artist Simone Leigh. Art + Film is one of Los Angeles’ must-attend events for Hollywood’s most famous faces, as well leaders in media, tech, fashion and art.

This year’s festivities, co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio and presented by Gucci, take place Nov. 2 at LACMA in Los Angeles. “Simone Leigh is one of the most captivating and important voices in contemporary art, brilliantly melding an array of different artistic traditions and centering Black femme subjects in powerful and moving ways,” LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg director Michael Govan said in statement Wednesday morning. “Baz Luhrmann has crafted an emotional cinematic oeuvre over three decades, driven by his imagination and passion.

We are excited to honor him alongside Simone and celebrate their remarkable careers.” LACMA and the California African American Museum (CAAM) are currently hosting “Simone Leigh,” the artist’s most expansive exhibition on the West Coast to date.
