‘Challengers,’ ‘The Substance’ and ‘Wicked’ Land Costume Designers Guild Nominations: Full List
variety.comJazz Tangcay Artisans Editor The Costume Designers Guild has announced nominations for the 27th Costume Designers Guild Awards, with “Wicked,” “Gladiator 2,” “Maria,” “Nosferatu” and “Dune: Part Two” among the titles landing nominations.
The costume designers behind “The Book of Clarence,” “Gladiator II,” “Maria,” “Nosferatu” and“Saturday Night” will vie for the top prize in excellence in period film, while the artisans behind “Challengers,” “Conclave,” “Emilia Pérez,” “The Fall Guy ” and “The Substance” will compete for excellence in contemporary costume. “Wicked’s” Paul Tazewell is nominated in the excellence in sci-fi/fantasy film category.
This is his fifth guild nomination. He won in 2021 for “Hamilton” in the excellence in variety, reality-competition or live television category.
Tazewell has emerged as a frontrunner for the costuming Oscar. If he does so, he will make history as the first Black man to win that category.
