Chadwick Boseman has earned a posthumous Golden Globes nomination for his last ever film performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The actor, who died of cancer aged 43 last year, received a nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama on Wednesday (3 February).
Mark Ruffalo reacted to the news on Twitter, writing: “This is beautiful. ”Boseman portrays trumpet player Levee in the Netflix film.
It is an adaptation of August Wilson’s 1982 play about blues singer Ma Rainey, who is played by Viola Davis in the movie. Davis also scored a Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama nomination.
