Deciding to walk away from football at the age of 24 was a bold step, but one Sam Wardrop felt he had to make.It perhaps wasn't the path he envisaged when he joined Celtic as a youngster and when he was viewed as a promising Hoops youngster. But it's not one he regrets.
His decision comes just over four years after captaining Celtic to victory in the Scottish Youth Cup Final.Following spells at Dundee United and Dumbarton, Wardrop joined Airdrie in the summer, but quickly found out that his passion for football wasn't what it was.
Now taking pride in his coaching business, social media advertising and brand new podcast, Wardrop has found fulfilment again.
He opens up on Airdrie, Celtic, TikTok and the lessons he's learned during his football break in the eighth episode of the Lanarkshire Live Sport Podcast.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
