Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Rangers and Celtic have backed the decision to postpone Sunday's derby clash as well as next week's Europa League second leg with Bayer Leverkusen.
Steven Gerrard 's team were due to host league-leaders Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday before their last 16 away leg in North-Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday.
But both Sunday's Scottish Premiership game and Rangers' meeting with the Bundesliga giants - who they trail after a 3-1 home defeat at Ibrox last night - have been canned as the coronavirus crisis continues wreak havoc on sport worldwide.
In a statement, the Ibrox side said: "Rangers is disappointed but not surprised that all domestic and European football has been suspended and that our forthcoming matches against Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen
