The company’s new CEO and owner Elon Musk has been teasing for months that people would be losing their blue checkmarks unless they pay for the service… and now he’s finally removed them.
Stars like Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and Lady Gaga are among those who no longer are verified.
If you click on a verified account’s blue checkmark, it now says, “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.” All of these stars are seemingly paying $8 a month or $84 a year.
