And while it may seem like the ultimate symbol of love and dedication at the time, things can get a bit awkward should the relationship come to an end - as some of our favourite celebrities have found out.

Most recently, This Country star Daisy May Cooper sparked engagement rumours when she got her boyfriend Ryan Weymouth’s name tattooed on her wedding ring finger back in March.

Showing off the ink just weeks after going public with her beau at the NME Awards, the 35 year old wrote: “My first tat”, alongside a love heart.
