Phillip Schofield has praised his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby for her unwavering support after he came out as gay last year.

The TV host, 59, said Holly had been his 'therapy' after he shared his sexuality with fans - as he revealed he had been 'taken by surprise' by the reaction from ITV viewers.

In February 2020, Phillip opened up to viewers on This Morning just minutes after a statement was shared on his social media pages.

Phillip held Holly's hands as she aloud read his heartfelt words live on ITV as he broke down in tears. Recalling the episode, Phil said there was an 'element of selfishness' with the way he came out publicly but said he did it that way to 'protect' himself.
