Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Dwain Chambers emotionally opened up about his experience of taking performance enhancing drugs on Sunday night’s episode of the gruelling Channel 4 show.

After being put through his paces with a challenge that involved dragging a 1000kg jeep across a scorching dessert, Dwain exposed some of his vulnerabilities in a heartfelt admission that saw him reveal he had taken performance enhancing drugs at the age of 23.The 44 year old Olympic sprinter fought back the weight of his emotions as he revealed what he hoped to achieve from being on the reality show. “I want to know if I can still be as good as I was.

I lost a huge portion of my career, doing what I did,” began Dwain, before continuing: “I made a decision to take performance enhancers in 2002, 2003.” When pressed by the show’s staff instructors, as to how it made him feel, Dwain didn’t hold back as he candidly confessed: “My whole world fell apart.” “I didn’t deal with it, I just kept on hiding from it, drinking and just doing crap, not facing the reality of what I’d done.” “There came a point where I had to face up to what I’d done and I cried like mad, because I realised what I’d done was a mistake.

And that still screws around with me.” Comforted by the supportive words of his instructors, Dwain went on to admit that he hoped to achieve more than just closure from being on the show - he wanted to push himself to be better. “When the chips get down and it’s tough, (I want) to not pull out,” explained the former athlete.
