Singers such as Dua Lipa and Mabel as well as Star Wars character Kylo Ren are among figures that are inspiring Brits when it comes to selecting a baby name.

Official data released from the Office for National Statistics ( ONS ) has revealed that the celebrity-inspired monikers have been on the up since the stars broke onto the scene.

Where as the names Olivia and Oliver are still the most popular names given to babies in this country, there has been a sharp rise in names linked to celebrities.

According to the ONS, this tends to be more prevalent among young mothers who are choosing more modern names. The link between popular culture and baby names is quite stark when it comes to Dua Lipa's influence.
