CBS Orders Zarna Garg Comedy Pilot, Mindy Kaling & Kevin Hart to Produce
variety.comJoe Otterson TV Reporter Zarna Garg is set to star in a multi-cam comedy pilot that has been ordered at CBS, Variety has learned.
Garg will also write and executive produce the pilot, which is titled “Zarna.” Darlene Hunt (“Call Me Kat,” “The Big C”) is also attached as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
The project was first reported to be in development back in September. Mindy Kaling and Jessica Kumai Scott are executive producing under the Kaling International banner along with Howard Klein of 3 Arts Entertainment as well as Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley, and Mike Stein via Hartbeat.
Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling International is under an overall deal, is the studio. The official logline for the pilot states, “Zarna is a proud immigrant woman who’s been raising her American born kids on Indian values.
