Eagle-eyed Casualty viewers had a moment of realisation after spotting an ex-EastEnders favourite starring in the most recent episode.

After the latest instalment of the medical drama aired on BBC One, soap fans flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) to point out the arrival of a well-known Walford name.

Actress Anna Acton made her debut on the show, with fans remembering her from her time playing policewoman Emma Summerhayes on EastEnders between 2014 and 2015.The cop’s time on the show came to a dramatic end after she was killed while trying to catch Lucy Beale’s killer.

But now, almost a decade later, the actress has returned to another hit BBC show, this time to play the role of pregnant Piper, who was found battered and bruised after a break-in.Taking to social media, stunned viewers voiced their discovery on X, with one person penning: “That's DCI Summerhayes, EastEnders fans,” as a grateful viewer added: “I was trying to work out where I’ve seen her before, so thank you.” Another also noticed the familiar face, saying: “Omg it's Emma Summerhayes from Eastenders.” While another chimed in with: “Anna Acton on Casualty; she’s been in Eastenders.
