Devon Sawa, the iconic Hollywood star from the 90s, is almost unrecognisable nearly 30 years after his breakthrough role.The actor shot to fame in 1995 when he played the human form of friendly ghost Casper McFadden in the film Casper.The movie boasted a star-studded cast, including Christina Ricci of The Addams Family and Bill Pullman from Independence Day.
After his success in the family film, Devon, now 46, starred in the 2000 horror cult classic Final Destination.That same year, he also appeared in Eminem's music video for the global hit Stan, playing an obsessed fan of the rapper.
In 2022, Devon revealed his struggle with fame and his infamous line in Casper, reports the Mirror. He said: "I had to smoke pot in movies and I had to be in a hip-hop video.That's what I felt like I had to do to get away from 'Can I keep you?' Everybody wanted to hear, 'Can I keep you?' It drove me nuts." Battling with sobriety, Devon eventually stepped back from his Hollywood career.
While it "wasn't completely" his choice, it was necessary for his recovery. Speaking to The Independent, he said: "I was burnt out, I was drinking too much.
