Carrie Coon On ‘The Gilded Age’ Scoring Season 3 At HBO: “The Gays Saved It”

Carrie Coon couldn’t tease much about The Gilded Age Season 3, but she had one particular group of people to thank for keeping the show going.

During an interview for The White Lotus Season 3 premiere, Coon thanked “the gays” for their support in renewing the Julian Fellowes-created drama. “The gays saved it,” Coon joked with Entertainment Tonight. “Thank you, right now, you saved it.

We would not have a season three without you.” The Gilded Age was renewed for a third season days after Season 2 concluded in December 2023, following solid ratings for the period drama.

According to HBO, total premiere-night viewing for the season grew for six consecutive weeks, culminating in a series high for the Season 2 finale.
