A care home has been ordered to improve after inspectors found elderly residents were sometimes made to get up as early as 4.30am because of staff shortages.
Linden House, in Castleton, Rochdale, provides personal and nursing care for up to 30 older people, including those with physical disabilities and dementia.
But officials from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found the Ivor Street home ‘requires improvement’ in all areas during a recent inspection.
Although they noted that staff were ‘kind, caring and helpful’ they also raised a number of concerns - particularly around staffing levels.
