Car mounts pavement and ploughs into insurance office building

A man was treated for minor injuries after a car involved in a collision with another vehicle mounted a pavement and crashed into a building.

The drama happened on Hyde Road in east Manchester on Friday afternoon. Police, firefighters and paramedics were to called the scene, in Belle Vue, shortly after 3pm following a collision between two vehicles, the fire service confirmed.

One of the vehicles mounted the pavement, demolished a railing and crashed into the window of an office building. There are no reports that anyone in the building or on the pavement were hurt although one man - thought to have been in the car which ended up in the building - was treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). The front window of the building has been smashed. A second car was removed by the emergency services. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 3.15pm today (Friday March 8) one fire engine from Gorton fire station was called to reports of a crash involving two vehicles on Hyde Road, Belle Vue. "Firefighters assisted colleagues from North West Ambulance Service to treat one male and made the scene safe.
