Car lands on M8 crash barrier near Eurocentral as two women rushed to hospital

Two women have been rushed to hospital after their motor crashed and landed on the central reservation of the M8. Emergency services were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway, near Eurocentral, at around 7.15pm on Sunday, May 22.

A picture from the scene shows the light-coloured motor lying on top of the crash barrier between junctions 6A and 7. A number of first response vehicles including ambulances and fire engines were also in attendance while temporary lane closures were put in place.

Police have confirmed that two women were taken to hospital for treatment however the extent of their injuries and current conditions are unknown.A force spokesperson said: “Around 7.15pm on Sunday, 22 May, 2022, police were called to the M8 eastbound, between junctions 6A and 7, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.“Two women were taken to hospital for treatment and the road was cleared around 9.10pm.”The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.We earlier told how a man had been rushed to hospital in a serious condition following a separate crash on a different part of the busy motorway.A woman and a child were also treated for minor injuries following the one vehicle smash near Livingston on Sunday afternoon.
