Cancer victim tragically died after being tormented by gang who tried to force their way into home

A vulnerable throat cancer victim who had suffered from a stroke was left in fear of his life after a vicious gang of three men tried to force their way into his home.

The occupier tried desperately to barricade himself in his home as the gang tried to smash their way inside.Hull Crown Court heard how the victim had since died but the "shameful and deeply unpleasant" raid undoubtedly "blighted" the last few months of his life, Hull Live reports.Aaron Page, 23, admitted to aggravated burglary and Ayden Faulder, 29, admitted to burglary on September 16.

Prosecutor, Fatima Zafar, told the court that the victim, who has since died, was on the couch watching TV at his home in Grimsby at 4am, when he heard loud banging at his front door as if someone was trying to get in.

He was frightened and swore at them but heard the noise of glass smashing from an upstairs bedroom and went to investigate.Page was at the bedroom window and shouted: "I'm going to get in there and stab you, you muppet."The occupant picked up a metal bar, which he had in the house to protect himself, and decided to barricade himself in."He leaned his body weight on the door to prevent anyone getting in," said Miss Zafar.The man heard Page climbing in through the upstairs window and heard further noise from Faulder.He heard Faulder say "I'm in."A Manchester City bag containing £170 birthday money and a large amount of loose change was stolen from the occupier's son's bedroom.One of the raiders tried to break into the living room through the front door but the householder managed to keep the door closed.A knife from the man's kitchen was found stuck in the door of the living room."That had been placed there by one of the males while the incident was ongoing,"
