A campaign group calling on Scottish sports teams to stamp out sexual misconduct has met with MSPs for a roundtable discussion on the issue.The group also met with sporting bodies and sexual assault survivors at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday.
End Sexual Misconduct in Sport was launched last month after a series of scandals in professional Scottish sport involving athletes said to have committed sexual assault.It comes after recent scandals in Scottish sport, including the signing of rapist David Goodwillie to Raith Rovers and the U-turn on bringing alleged rapist Lasse Uusivirta to ice hockey side Glasgow Clan.
The campaign is calling on every professional team to implement and enforce policies dedicated to tackling sexual misconduct.But the law student driving the campaign, known as Miss J, says her pleas have largely fallen on deaf ears.
She claims she has contacted every Premiership and Championship football club as well as rugby, ice hockey and basketball teams, but only two have made any effort to call her back.Miss J, a survivor of sexual assault who is being kept anonymous, said: "I didn't expect to get almost complete silence from the clubs.
