Angelique Jackson CAA has signed Margaret Zhang for representation as an emerging filmmaker, writer and producer. The new alliance marks the next step for Zhang, who officially departs her role as editor-in-chief of Vogue China at the end of May. “I am immensely proud of the radical evolution that we have driven at Vogue China over the past three years, expanding its impact from its print beginnings to becoming a multimedia bridge for creative culture – China to the world, the world to China,” Zhang wrote in a memo announcing her exit, which was announced on Friday.

When Zhang was named Vogue China’s editor-in-chief in Feb. 2021, the then-27-year-old became the youngest Vogue chief in Condé Nast history.

During her tenure, Zhang launched the Vogue Film Initiative, which supports Chinese women in film by identifying and mentoring high-potential Chinese female filmmakers, producers, writers and actors and guiding them from development to production through the launch of their first narrative shorts.

Over the course of two years, the Vogue Film Initiative has incubated and produced 17 short films; the projects are predominantly in Mandarin, yet some are bilingual.
