A spike in confirmed coronavirus patients in Bury has taken the total number of cases to 549. On Sunday, there were 47 people who tested positive for Covid-19, more than twice as many as the previous day - and nearly five times more than the same day last week.
It comes as the government continues to push for more testing across the country, having scrambled to reach a target of 100,000 tests a day by the end of April.
The spike in Bury is in line with other boroughs across Greater Manchester - including Rochdale, which saw an increase of 51 confirmed case.
The most extreme increases were seen in Oldham, where 100 more people tested positive for the virus; and Wigan, which saw a rise of 74.
