‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Universe Audio Series Set With Original Cast Members Returning
deadline.comWith the long-gestating Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV reboot on indefinite hold, fans of the cult vampire drama are getting an audio offshoot, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, centered around James Marsters’ character Spike.
A number of other original cast members, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, Danny Strong, will also make a return for the Audible series, which will premiere Oct.
12. The original series’ titular star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has ruled out an involvement in the potential Buffy reboot, is not part of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, which is set in an alternate reality where Buffy Summers never existed.
Written by original cast member Amber Benson alongside writer Christopher Golden, and directed by Benson, Golden, and Kc Wayland, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story picks up 10 years after the events of the series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired more than 20 years ago, in May 2003.
