We are learning more about the upcoming reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to reprise her iconic role, but it has been said she won’t be the main focus of the new series.
While we did know there will be a new slayer at the center of the reboot, we are now learning of a couple new characters, with casting currently underway! Keep reading to find out more… According to TV Line, the new slayer will skew more towards Willow, who was played by Alyson Hannigan in the OG series, as opposed to being similar to Buffy.
The new slayer is said to be “a cerebral 16-year-old named Nova (though we’re fairly certain that name is just a placeholder) who is very smart and a bit of a loner.” In addition to Nova, her buddies, who would have been called Scoobies in the original series, “will include Hugo, an out-and-proud nerd who comes from money, and Gracie, a young expert on vampires who’s an acolyte of Gellar’s Buffy.” The upcoming reboot is being set at Hulu with 20th Television producing.
Lifelong Buffy fan Chloe Zhao is set to direct the pilot and executive produce, with Nora and Lilla Zuckerman writing.
