Ecstatic football fans gathered outside St Mirren FC’s stadium yesterday as they hoped to capture a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo.The Portuguese footballing sensation is regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played football, and his short stop in Paisley showcased the love fans have for him.Scotland gears up to play Portugal at Hampden tonight in Nations League match action with manager Steve Clark hoping to keep the superstar quiet.However, yesterday afternoon was anything but that as fans of Ronaldo all gathered outside the SMiSA Stadium hoping for a chance to see the Portugal player and his teammates.And one person who was looking to make it happen was Danielle McCourt and her two children, Kobi and Lyle.Danielle’s children are huge Ronaldo fans and they had hoped to see their idol at Hampden, but raced to Paisley when they heard the Portuguese side had been training there.
Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express she said: “My children are absolutely obsessed with him.“We have tickets to the game tomorrow night and they are just desperate to meet him, watch him and do his famous celebration when he scores.
