Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.A hero off-duty cop from Alexandria who died after trying to break up a fight in Canada has been described as “one of a kind” by his heartbroken brother.Constable Allan Young was injured with a weapon after he bravely intervened in a disturbance in British Columbia, where he lived and worked.Allan, 55, who grew up in Alexandria and went to the Vale Academy, was on annual leave at the time.
Brother Iain Young said that the manner in which his brother lost his life “summed him up”.He added: “He was off duty and on holiday but still became involved to help out.“That’s the kind of guy he was.”The incident happened on Thursday, July 16.
