Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andre Braugher has died aged 61.The actor, who was best known for playing Captain Raymond Holt in the American comedy series, was confirmed to have passed away by his publicist on Monday December 12.A cause of death is not yet known but it's believed that the Emmy award-winning star was suffering from a brief illness.Aside from playing his well loved character of the serious cop on Brooklyn 99, the American actor was known for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton in Homicide: Life on the Street.He starred in the drama show from 1992 to 1998 and during his last year on the show he was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.It was on set of Homicide: Life on the Street where Andre met his wife Ami Brabson who was his co-star on the show.The star is survived by his wife who he married in 1991 and their three children Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley.Devastated fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the star as one wrote: "Brooklyn nine-nine got me through some really rough days and continues to be my comfort show.
