Chris Peluso, a Broadway actor who also had a successful career on London’s West End, has died at the age of 40.
Playbill confirmed that Chris passed away on Tuesday (August 15), one year after he stepped away from his acting career to focus on his health. Keep reading to find out more… Chris had been receiving treatment for schizoaffective disorder, which the Mayo Clinic says is “a mental health disorder that is marked by a combination of schizophrenia symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusions, and mood disorder symptoms, such as depression or mania.” Chris made his Broadway debut in the revival of Assassins in 2004 and was featured in the cast of the short-lived production of Lestat in 2006.
He later played the role of Sky in Mamma Mia in 2008 and then covered many roles in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. On tour, Chris played the role of Fiyero in Wicked.
After relocating to London, Chris starred in musicals like Miss Saigon, Funny Girl, and Show Boat. Chris is survived by his wife Jessica and their two children.
