Brits braved the freezing cold to launch fireworks from their own gardens on a very unusual New Year's Eve. With a ban on large gatherings leading the main public displays to be scrapped, people took the job of illuminating the night's sky into their own hands.
At the strike of midnight whizzes and crackles could be heard above residential areas across the land. While less TNT may have been set off than a typical New Year's Eve, come 12.05am the air was suitably filled with the sweet tang of gunpowder.
People took to social media to share their firework videos and express their glee that 2020 had finally ended and their joy at entering a New Year.
