Britney Spears has deactivated her Instagram after revelations from her new book made headlines this week.The popstar's long-awaited memoir The Woman in Me will hit shelves next week, on October 24.

However the pre-release coverage has already highlighted some of the book's contents which includes details of her relationship with Justin Timberlake.

The 41-year-old has spoken out about the headlines and has urged her fans that she didn't mean to "offend anyone." Britney deactivated her Instagram account after posting a written statement online which read: "My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means! "That was me then … that is in the past!

I don’t like the headlines I am reading … that’s exactly why I quit the business four years ago! "Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here! "I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life!
