Britney Spears' dad rushed to hospital as 'infection' causes 'leg amputation'

Jamie Spears has reportedly had his leg amputated after he was rushed to hospital with a 'severe infection'. The star - who is the father of Britney and Jamie-Lynn Spears - was rushed to hospital in October after suffering from a 'bad infection'.

At the time, a source revealed Jamie required surgery and had to spend weeks in a special infectious disease facility. Now, a source has also revealed Jamie had a 'massive infection' in one of his legs and underwent five unsuccessful surgeries to try and contain the infection, with doctors deciding the only way for them to proceed was amputation, writes the Mirror.Speaking to TMZ, the source said Jamie "is not doing well".

They added: "He's had other ailments and has been downcast amid the torrent of criticism over his handling of the conservatorship."Britney was placed under a controversial conservatorship in 2008 and went through a highly-publicised legal battle to gain her freedom.The conservatorship gave Jamie full control over every aspect of life, including restrictions on how she spent her money, who she socialised with, and even the kind of phone she could have.In November 2021, Britney finally won her freedom.

Despite their tense relationship, the source told the publication that Britney has "softened" toward her dad. They claimed she even talked about sending him money to help him out.
