Jailed Brit Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe holds up a festive biscuit that gives her a taste of hope. Daughter Gabriella, six, made them in London for the 42-year-old, who has been held in Iran since 2016.
They were delivered to her in Tehran thanks to the efforts of the Foreign Office and the British Embassy. And Gabriella watched on Zoom as Nazanin opened her gift and took a bite.
Dad Richard Ratcliffe, who Gabriella returned to the UK to live with a year ago, said: “It felt hopeful, to see the biscuits in our kitchen and then in Nazanin’s. "It’s a small thing but not much gets across those boundaries.
It feels like a hopeful sign.” Nazanin added: “I almost couldn’t eat them, they were too precious. So much love had gone into them.” Dual
