British Gas' owner has warned it has just 'nine days' left of supply as the organisation reopened its mega site ahead of winter shortage fears.
The energy company announced today that it is reopening its Rough gas fields in a move to increase the UK's gas capacity by 50%, reports the Mirror.
The site off the Yorkshire coast and beneath the North Sea is crucial in 'helping the UK this winter' insists Centrica, who own British Gas.
However, the energy business insists it will not be a 'silver bullet for energy security' amidst widespread fears of energy shortages in the upcoming months.Centrica stated that the UK currently has one of the lowest levels of gas storage in Europe, with just nine days left.
