Britain's Got Talent confirms major format shake-up over how finalists are decided

Britain's Got Talent 2020 is a bit different this year, with the coronavirus pandemic halting live shows earlier this year.

When the auditions stopped airing in May, they were not followed by the live shows as they could not go ahead. On Saturday night, they kicked back up again on ITV but this time it was pre-recorded and judge Simon Cowell was absent, due to a cycling accident recently.

He broke his back in three places and needed emergency surgery, but is hoping to be back for the final. As well as the above changes, there's also a virtual audience and separate judging desks.
