A British woman charged with murdering her husband after their dream move to a tropical island became a nightmare goes on trial today insisting: “I loved that man”.
Samantha Jones, 54, will be hanged if convicted of “murder with intent” after husband John, 63, was fatally stabbed. But at Malaysia’s High Court today she is bidding to have the charge reduced to manslaughter, meaning she would face ten to 30 years in jail if found guilty.
It is believed grandfather-of-five Mr Jones died from a stab wound which pierced his liver at his villa on Langkawi. He was knifed after returning from a day drinking with fellow ex-pats.
