Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

A British granddad suffered a broken neck by diving into a swimming pool while on holiday with friends in Tenerife. Christopher Watkins, 43, was pulled out of the water by lifeguards after he dived into the hotel pool and struck his head.

The father-of-two was staying at the Aparthotel Columbus in Playa de las Americas when the freak accident took place. Chris had been away friends who thought he was "joking" when he didn't initially come up for air.

But he was rushed to hospital and has been placed in an induced coma. His best friend Christian Preece, 43, said: "He didn't come up straight away, and the lifeguards jumped straight in to rescue him.
