A British couple have told of their "turmoil" after being apart for five months due to border closures - only to be given exemption after already having quit their jobs and sold their cars.
Michelle Tomlinson turned to the media after she and husband Ashley were separated when he flew to Yorkshire from Australia to be by his dying dad's bedside - and was told he could not fly back.
It was only after reporters from Australia's 9News had contacted the Australian Border Force (ABF) that Ashley was given an exemption - but Michelle had already resigned from work and packed up their Perth home ready to leave for the UK to be reunited with her husband.
