A bride-to-be who lost her celebrant sister to cystic fibrosis will hear her speak at the wedding from beyond the grave after tracking down voice clips and piecing them together.

When Kirsty Harvey underwent a lifesaving double lung transplant in 2011, her devoted sister Julie Geddes helped nurse her back to health.

Julie, a former army nurse, spent three weeks by Kirsty’s hospital bedside, caring for her little sister who had been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis just months after her birth.

Over the next eight years Julie and her family watched with joy as Kirsty lived out many of her dreams including travelling the world, sky-diving, and marrying her long-time love. The former make-up artist also became a celebrant, marrying more than 200 couples. When Kirsty’s body started to reject the transplant she had received, she continued to do the job she loved - even leaving hospital to take part in ceremonies. Now almost four years on from Kirsty’s death, as Julie looks forward to her own wedding, she is heartbroken her youngest sister won’t be by her side - but she has come up with a creative solution.Julie, 43, will marry partner Gordon Bond, 49, at a lodge near Carrbridge in the Highlands in October and plans to use video footage of her sister at work to put her words together for a special reading. She said: “I know Kirsty would have absolutely loved to be involved in my wedding.“I always planned to have her as part of the day and intend to have life-size cardboard figures of Kirsty throughout the wedding venue in a light-hearted way of her being there.“But very recently I was asked what symbolic gestures and readings we wanted for the ceremony and I thought I’d love to have Kirsty do a reading somehow.
