UPDATED with latest: At a hearing today, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gus T. May placed Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson in a conservatorship.

The arrangement is to be overseen by the 81-year-old musician’s longtime publicist Jean Sievers and manager LeeAnn Hard. “I find from clear and convincing evidence that a conservatorship of the person is necessary,” said May at the hearing.

Wilson has reportedly consented to the conservatorship. A doctor’s statement in the filing said that Wilson suffers from a “major neurocognitive disorder,” is taking medication for dementia and “is unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.” His wife, Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, died in January. A petition for conservatorship was filed by Wilson’s management team Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Wilson’s family confirmed the move in posts on Wilson’s social media accounts, including Instagram, last night.
