Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.
Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.
Celtic fans are over the moon after watching Brendan Rodgers’s men blast their way to another Premiership title. But Johan Mjallby reckons you’d need to be from another planet to have had any doubts it would be lift off again with the Irishman at the controls.
Rodgers admitted there was a slight atmosphere when he made his re-entry to Parkhead last summer, with some supporters still smarting from his sharp exit in 2019.
The 51-year-old has got the punters back on board though and former Celtic hero Mjallby insisted he knew the gaffer was going to be out of this world again.
The big Swede said: “We shouldn’t question at all whether Brendan Rodgers is a good manager or not. You’d probably have to live on another planet to think that he wouldn’t be a good choice for Celtic.
