Frustrated Brendan Rodgers has accused VAR of guessing after chalking off Daizen Maeda's equaliser in their 2-1 defeat to Hibs. The Japanese forward had pulled a goal back early in the second half after Josh Campbell's brace had put the hosts two goals up going into the interval and thought he had then got his team level by netting from close range after Hibees stopper Jordan Smith had failed to deal with a cross.

However, following a lengthy review, VAR then overturned the goal after determining that the ball had gone out of play as Alistair Johnston crossed it in for Maeda to net.

Camera angles have proved to be inconclusive as to whether the whole of the ball had indeed crossed the line and Rodgers was not shy in letting his feelings be known after the game.

The Celtic boss said: "My take is that the official Alan Muir has had a guess at it. The linesman arguably has the best view in the stadium and he doesn't give it. "So for that to get overturned I am assuming there is an absolute clear image of the ball being out of play.
