A large emergency service presence was sparked in Manchester city centre after the incident at around 10.50pm. A group of people were 'fighting with knives' at the scene and three men, aged between 23 and 31, were found with stab wounds.

They were all taken to hospital and remain there for treatment. Two of the men are seriously injured, police said, and the other man has minor injuries.

Two men - aged 17 and 18 - have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in custody for questioning. Police said the incident was 'isolated' and there is no wider risk to the
