A man was taken to hospital by paramedics after reports he was assaulted in the Northern Quarter on Thursday evening (June 23).
Police cordoned off Tib Street, near the city centre, at around 6.30pm. The cordon remained in place for a number of hours. Paramedics rushed to the scene to find a male on the ground - it is thought he was assaulted in the incident.
Witnesses at the scene told the Manchester Evening News they saw two men, before one was 'punched' by the other. They added he was then tackled to the ground, with blood seen in the road.
It is not thought any arrests have been made yet and police are appealing for information.
