It happened just a short distance away from Piccadilly Gardens at around 1:15pm this afternoon. Police and fire crews said they were called to Piccadilly Plaza on New York Street after reports debris from a "failed" window pane had fallen onto a child below.
It is understood glass fell from a building above the University of Law and below the City Tower. Only the frosted, outer part of the glass pane is said to have smashed with most of it said to have fell onto a balcony below.
