Millions of keen Sandman followers know the answer. But for the rest, here we go: In Neil Gaiman’s expansive The Sandman graphic novel universe, upon which the Netflix series is based, The Prodigal is one of the “Endless Family” of spooky siblings.
The Sandman is Tom Sturridge aka Dream. The others are Destiny, Death, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium. As we’ve ascertained from the first season, each of The Endless has a realm in which they are sovereign. “The Prodigal is Destruction,” Sloane says, noting that he’s referred to as The Prodigal “because in the first season he has abandoned his post and left.
